Sarah Akigbogun is and architect and founder of Studio aki. She studied Architecture at the Architectural Association (AA), prior to which, inspired by the work of Pier Luigi Nervi and Santiago Calatrava, she studied Architectural Engineering at Westminster. Her practice, Studio aki, founded in 2014, straddles the boundaries of architecture, art and design. Since leaving the AA she has worked at leading Architectural practices including Foster and Partners and Alsop Architects, where she worked on the development of the rainscreen cladding geometry and design on the award winning, dual-use, Carnegie Pavilion at Headingley, completed in 2010. During her time at these practices Sarah worked extensively in 3d modelling and visualisation and brings this experience to Studio aki.
Sarah has a passion for film and photography which began in the space between degree and diploma and which lead her to join Pascal’s Schoning’s unit at the AA, where filmmaking was employed to as a communicative tool describe spatial experience and design. This love of images, moving and still and spatial narrative has also been brought to Studio aki.
